US Gold Eagle
World's
Most Popular Gold Coins - American Eagle gold
coins were first issued in 1986 by the US Mint and quickly
became one of the leading gold bullion investment coins.
The obverse (front) of each gold coin bears a modified Augustus
Saint-Gaudens design of the Liberty, which originally appeared
on the U.S. $20 gold coin, or "double eagle,"
from 1907 through 1933. On the reverse (back) is a "family
of eagles", a design created by Mrs. Miley Busiek.
22
Karat Solid Gold
- The American Eagle is not .9999 gold. Instead, each gold
coin is minted in 91.67% fine gold. The reason is because
it creates harder coins that resist scratching and other
blemishes that might diminish resale value.
Government
Issued - American Eagles are the only bullion
gold coins guaranteed as to the weight and gold content
by the U.S. government, which is the only one authorized
to mint currency.

Low Mintages:
US Platinum Eagles were first minted in 1997. Their popularity
has quickly grown and with the rapidly fluctuating price
of platinum, there demand has increased too. Platinum Eagles
have historically had low mintages causing certain dates
to increase in value, above the price of platinum.
Lady Liberty
Design: The American
Eagle Platinum Coin's obverse design features a portrait
of Lady Liberty by U.S. Mint sculptor/engraver John Mercanti.

a bald eagle soaring above the saguaro cacti of the American
